This german course is designed to result in high school credit for foreign language.  We will go through the basics of german language and culture.  The focus is to give students basic communication skills and a working knowledge of german culture.  We are going to build a foundation for future courses.

This course accompanies Mrs. Evans' English as a Second Language class at West Middle School.

In French 2 we will start with a brief review of French 1.  Then this year you will learn:

  • to get acquainted with others and share basic information
  • to talk about yourself and others
  • to discuss weekend activities
  • to describe meals and shopping for food
  • to talk about free time and entertainment
  • to discuss sports and health
  • to describe your house and homes in general
  • to relate events using the past tense

Just like last year, we will also study many different aspects of French culture throughout the year, and we will explore similarities and differences between American and Francophone cultures.

In French 1 you will learn:

  • to meet people and share basic information about yourself and your family
  • to discuss daily activities at home, at school, and on weekends
  • to make plans with your friends
  • to discuss people and their possessions 
  • to have a meal and eat at restaurants in France
  • to use vocabulary for school
  • to talk about city life, including directions and urban activities 

 

You will also study many different aspects of French culture throughout the year, and we will explore similarities and differences between American and Francophone cultures.
